What is the F5 Report & How Does it Work?

The state of Texas requires the police chief to send an F-5 Report to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) when an officer is fired or resigns.

The F5 Report allows police officers to contest information inside their F-5 Report by submitting a written petition to TCOLE and the law enforcement agency that issued it.

The F-5 report manages the information that TECOLE maintains about your employment history unless there is a legal requirement for them to do otherwise.

This process ensures that officers who abuse their power are no longer able to do so while also providing unfairly dishonorably discharged officers a chance to appeal.

A TCOLE F5 Appeal is one of the only ways to get back into an honorable discharge standing after resignation or firing.

Why Work With Us Instead of a CLEAT Lawyer

Our job is to stand up for police officers providing them with sound counsel and advice when they receive a bad separation rating on their F5 forms. While lawyers charge expensive hourly rates, we charge one flat fee for handling your F5 appeal. We have over 20 years of experience working with police officers and their appeals processes, and we want to help you, too.

If you are a member of the Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas and they are willing to represent you in your F5 hearing, that’s pretty good.  It comes free with your membership with CLEAT.  However, CLEAT can only afford to have a lawyer represent you at the hearing.

We look at the whole picture, identify employment law issues and may counsel you on your unfair treatment.   We develop the evidence and prepare you for your hearing as if it is a regular trial.

What to Expect When Working With US

Our goal is to get you the discharge rating you want.
However, the process is unpredictable, and we do not guarantee a specific
outcome. We want to make sure you are represented fairly and justly, and we’re the team to do it.

Lawyers are expensive and often don’t have the proper time to dedicate to ensuring your report is appealed properly. Our team use a dedicated process that works exclusively for and with police officers in appealing their F5 reports to TCOLE and SOAH. You don’t have to have your report hanging over you like a black cloud. We’ll get to work changing your rating so you can move on with your career in confidence.

Get your F5 Changed Before Your F5 Hearing

While we don’t make any promises, we often get our officer’s F5 reports changed before their hearings, ensuring a smooth legal process moving forward.

If you’re ready to get your report changed to an honorable discharge, we are ready to help.
